Ask a person which is the most favorite animal he would like to keep at his home. In most of the cases answer would be dogs.

Terrier dog breeds. This group has a variety of both behavioral and physical-a history of hunting assistance often being the only regular bond among some of the hound breeds. The millions of mixed-breed dogs around the world are a testament to that. How To Potty Train A Dog and winLike most terriers, this “king of terriers” has little time for other dogs, and if not properly supervised may engage in some street brawling. Combining the taut muscles and compact power of the bulldog with the tenacity and aggressiveness of the terrier, some controversial bull terrier breeds have been involved in some highly publicized biting incidents, several involving small children. Unfortunately, the sheer popularity of some of the sporting breeds, most notably cocker spaniels but also Labrador and golden retrievers, has led to a rise in health and behavioural problems. When these dogs bite, they don’t let go. Children and dogs make potentially blissful partners, but choosing a dog that actually likes to play with children is your best bet in orchestrating a match made in heaven. Some dog breeds under this group include American Eskimo Dog, Bichon Frise, Boston Terrier, Bulldog, Chinese Shar-Pei, Chow Chow, Dalmatian, Finnish Spitz, French, Bulldog, Keeshond, Lhasa Apso, Lowchen, Poodle, Schipperke, Shiba Inu, Tibetan Spaniel, Tibetan Terrier. Unlike mixes, crossbreeds have clear roots – often evident by looking back just one generation. Go-getting is the word most often used to describe terriers. Two purebred dogs are sometimes deliberately crossed in hopes of creating a new breed such as the cockapoo, which is one part cocker spaniel, one part poodle. Sporting dogs that are alert, active and intelligent have historically been used by hunters to locate, flush or retrieve game from land or water. The sporting group comprises some of the most popular breeds, including pointers, setters, retrievers and spaniels. Without the right training, some working dogs can be difficult to handle, even dangerous. The Anatomy of a CanineThe wire-haired coat of the dachshund features a higher quantity and density of the harsh primary hairs in a dog’s coat. Rose Ears. Teeth. Two rows of six small, curved incisors help the dog maintain a firm grip on prey, while four large, pointed canine teeth tear at it. Called thermoregulation, this ability allows canids to thrive in all types of climates, from the subarctic to the Sahara. Button ears can been seen in Shetland Sheepdogs and many terriers. Pendant Ears. The ears of wild canids, like wolves and foxes, come in only one shape:natural. They – and a large common pad in the center – act as shock absorbers. A small stopper pad, located higher up on the back of the leg, provides a better grip for walking or running on slick surfaces. Why the help?In minutes, you can convert your worst enemy into a best friend again. You can finally show off your dog to your friends and family without being embarrassed. A few dog treats will do the magic. You won’t need any dog training equipment. How To Potty Train A Dog Successfully and never look back.

If you are a dog owner, you have probably come across all sorts of information on training and containing dogs, from welcoming a new puppy to dealing with an annoying barking dog and anything else in between. This article will give you brief information on how to welcome and treat a new puppy in your home.
Housebreaking a puppy
There is a firm belief among many dog owners that the best way to housebreak a puppy by “rubbing their nose in”. This method never works. As a matter of fact, it humiliates the dog and can worsen the relationship between it and the family.
To housebreak a dog successfully and effectively, it is best to have a designated area for this. Visit this spot frequently and reward the puppy every time there is progress. Eventually, the dog will learn what is expected of it and will never look back.
To teach the dog to understand what you say, use a certain keyword every time you bring the dog to the housebreaking area. In time, the dog will associate that keyword with what is expected of it. In case of an accident indoors, you should immediately bring the dog to the selected spot and use the keyword. However, since this may take some time, you will need to be patient and persistent.
Training a dog to stop barking
One of the most complicated and time consuming dog training practices is training a dog to stop barking. Many owners fail in this course because they fail to address the root cause of the barking. The most important thing in this case is to never reward a dog for barking or bribe it with food to stop barking. Doing this will only encourage and even reinforce the barking. Another thing never to do is yelling at it whenever it starts barking. The dog may understand that there is no problem with barking because the owner too is barking back.
The barking problem can be handled by introducing proper socialization etiquette, giving the dog the right amount of attention at the right time and instilling a bit of obedience in its behavior. This issue has a lot of information that shows you how to deal with it, depending on the cause of the barking. However, whichever way you choose to use, patience is a virtue here because this process takes time. However long it takes, never resort to using cruel and harmful methods like dog collars.
Dog digging problem
Digging is an activity that many dogs enjoy, especially the Labrador Retrievers. Dogs dig for a variety of reasons including boredom, shelter, need for cooling or warmth or boredom. Although you may find this unacceptable, the dog may not see anything wrong with it.
You can designate a certain area for your dog to dig if you have a big yard. To stop it completely, you should spray the dog with a hose every time it starts digging and shout a certain keyword like “NO”. Another common method is burying an inflated balloon where the dog likes to dig. Whenever it starts, the balloon will explode, startling the dog. Eventually, it will learn to stop digging.

Dogs are a man’s best friend. That has always been the belief ever since. Why not? Because of their care, loyalty and sweetness to their owners, people will have a hard time not loving them. Unfortunately for some dog owners and some people, the dog becomes their worst enemy. Just imagine the life of the mail man. The mail man has been always portrayed in movies or cartoons as a biting post of dogs. This is not a stupid joke. I have a n uncle who worked as a mail man and got bitten by a dog. In fact, there are more people aside from mailmen that get victimized by dog bites. Every year there are 4.7 million people that get bitten by dogs. Among the 4.7 million people that get bitten, 17% needs medical attention. Also, 10-20% of tragic bite victims are killed by dog bites. Since this has been a growing problem, certain breeds have been banned in some U.S. states. Here are the top 10 breeds that cause dog bites in no particular order. Rottweilers, pit bulls, huskies, German shepherds, Dobermans, malamutes, St. Bernards, chow chows, Akitas and Great Danes. The dog’s behavior of being aggressive or non-aggressive greatly depends on the owner’s responsibility and training of the dog. Here are several steps that the owners can take to make their dog safe around other people.? Make your puppy have social interaction with other dogs and people after it gets vaccinated. This will help the puppy feel that other dogs and humans are not threatening. The puppy will then learn to be friendlier. Bring the puppy to the park, pet store or even puppy classes. ? Spraying or neutering the dog will greatly help reduce the risk. When the dog is neutered some of its territorial instincts like territorial aggression are reduced. Most fatal dog bites (80%) are caused by non-neutered male dogs. So trying to neuter your aggressive male dog will help keep it safe around other people.? Always remember to restrain your dog when interacting with strangers or in a public place. You can’t predict your dog’s behavior even though you may say that it’s really friendly. Try to restrain him with a leash when in a public place. Also prevent strangers from interacting with the dog because the stranger might startle him or her. When leaving the dog alone in your yard, remember to enclose him on a fence that will be suitable for its size.? It is the dog’s nature to bite anything, so training it to not bite anything will greatly help. Distraction will work on a dog when it is biting anyone. Try to make a quick sound such as a clap or saying “ow”. After, make the dog chew the chew toy. It will greatly help in training if the dog is rewarded when biting the right stuff.? Always watch your dog’s behavior. When the dog is really aggressive and can’t be trained, get help from the vet.Being able to follow these things can help prevent the risk of your dog to society. Instead of becoming public enemy number 1 it could be America’s sweetheart. So be a responsible owner.

Are you wondering how to train your dog? Are you considering adopting a new dog in your house?

Well, if you are planning to get a new dog for your family, there are some issues that you should seriously consider.

First and foremost, you must understand that keeping a dog means a lot of added responsibility. Sure, we all agree how cute that Golden Retriever puppy is. And so is that German Shepherd puppy. In fact, probably all the puppies out there are really cute.

Because of that, you really want to adopt one. But getting a puppy means you are responsible for training it. Without the proper training, your puppy can grow up into an adult dog that ends up wrecking havoc in your house. You must be prepared to face these problems when if you want to be a dog owner.

Some common problems that dog owners will probably face with their dogs are barking, whining, digging, jumping, aggression, chewing and many more. Depending on the breed of your dog, the problems that you have to deal with will probably be very different.

For example, for small dog, it is probably not such a big problem if they are jumping on you. But for huge dog like Great Dane, jumping is certainly a big problem and can potentially result in injuries. Of course, I am not saying that it is alright for small dogs to jump. If your small dog keeps on jumping on your guests, you will still want to correct the behavior even if it doesn’t result in any injuries. It will still irritate your guests and embarrass you.

Of course, there are many other issues that you may need to consider if you are going to be a dog owner. One of them is obviously children. If you have children in your house, you will certainly want to choose a breed of dog that is gentle and patient with children.

The German Shepherd Dog truly is a wonderful animal and not only do they make good working dogs, they also make superb family pets. They are however very different from other pet breeds and need to be handled and trained with a different approach to say your average labrador or poodle for instance. The GSD is a large, strong athletic dog, which needs a lot of mental stimulation and exercise but a well trained shepherd can learn to do almost anything. These dogs positively thrive on challenging activities and they are so willing to serve their master and please. As a working dog used by most police forces, the very look of a GSD is usually enough to act as a deterrent but when called into action there are few dogs that can match the German Shepherd as an all rounder. If you are considering becoming an owner of a GSD then you need to consider the commitment to training in order that you have happy, well behaved German Shepherd dog that you can take out safely in public. If you haven’t previously owned one of these dogs then please do not take on a youngster lightly. Being involved in GSD rescue I have lost count of the number of young dogs I have had to re-home because owners bought them without doing a bit of research first. As youngsters they can be very boisterous and can easily knock over children or elderly relatives, especially if you do not discourage the dog from jumping up when excited. A bored GSD can be very destructive and if left alone will trash your house and contents with ease using their big teeth and claws. Unfortunately these dogs don’t really mature until they are about 3 years old so you are in for the long haul to get through the puppy and adolescent stageThe German Shepherd needs to be well socialised from an early age and needs plenty of exposure to people and other dogs so that they do not develop aggressive tendencies as they mature.Joining a dog training class from an early age is a good idea and most clubs will accept dogs into the puppy classes from about 4 months onwards. This should be good fun for your puppy and allows him to play and to socialise but it also serves the purpose of teaching him or her what is acceptable and what is not. This will prove invaluable grounding for your German Shepherd training.

If you have just adopted a new Collie, you probably have several questions that you want to ask about dog training.

1) Should I Train My Dog

Regardless of the breeds of dogs you are getting, be it a German Shepherd, Boxer Dog, Golden Retriever, Great Dane or Collie, they all require training.

When talking about training, we are not talking about dog tricks training. Yes, it will be nice if your Collie knows how to perform dog tricks. It will make you so proud in front of your guests.

But what is more important in the very beginning is dog obedience training. Every dog should go through a proper dog obedience training program in order to become a well behaved dog that will be a joy for the family.

Without the proper training, your dog may exhibit a lot of behavior problems that is only going to cause you a lot of headaches. Some common dog behavior problems include but are not limited to aggression, biting, barking, chewing, whining, digging, chasing, licking, jumping etc.

2) When Is The Best Time To Start Training My Collie

The best time to start training your dog is definitely when it is still a young puppy. When your dog is still a puppy, it is certainly much easier to control and handle as compared to an adult dog.

This is especially true for dogs that will grow into a very big size when they turn into adults.

Of course, if you are adopting an adult dog, then you can’t turn back time and train it as a puppy. In this case, the next best time to start training your dog is obviously now.

The fact is, the best time to start training your dog is as soon as you possibly can. The longer you wait, the more bad habits your dog is going to pick up and it will become much harder to train.
