While wild pigs and wild boars are different, there are similar tactics used in the hunting of them. There is a certain excitement involved in the pig hunt, and the hunter often feels that he’s doing a great service to people in the area as the feral pigs and boars are highly adaptable and have overrun much of the landscape. In the 1920’s the European wild boar was introduced by a Monterey, California landowner. When it bred with domestic pigs a hog hybrid was developed that is now today’s wild boar. Due to excessive breeding the population of this wild pig has increased exponentially and many states offer open season year round in the hopes of controlling it. These pigs can not only be aggressive, but they damage much of the vegetation and landscape of the area ruining habitat for other, more fragile species. In 1957 the Fish and Game Commision established official seasons on them and it wasn’t until 1992 that a tag was required to hunt them. There are also special rules and regulations regarding the use of hunting dogs in the capture of these pigs.
In California wild pigs are present in 56 of the 58 counties, with a majority of them living on private land. The pig’s behavior has altered greatly to adapt to the hunting techniques often employed to catch them. While they once moved around during the day, they have morphed into a more nocturnal creature, foraging for food at night. The most popular way to hunt these pigs is with hunting dogs, and any number of breeds are used. At one of the only pig hunting dog training schools in the world, Joshua Kauta’s school looks for characteristics such as courage, stamina, intelligence, and tenacity in the training of a good pig dog. One of the most popular breeds used for hunting pig is the bull terrier, along with other breeds such as sheep and cattle dogs crossed with breeds such as the Labrador for it’s sense of smell.
Pig dog training is often in rugged and hilly landscapes and a dog needs a lot of room and open area with well-trained pigs to get proper training. It’s essential for a pig dog to begin it’s training at a young age. There are two types of dogs used when it comes to hunting pigs; those that are used for bailing, which track a pig and keep it at bay by barking at it until the hunter can arrive, and there are the holder dogs, which grab onto a pig’s ears and keep it steady. Whichever type of hunting the sportsmen prefers, wild pig hunting is both exciting and provides a service to many of the local landowners.

Year after year, Labrador Retrievers have consistently ranked as one of the best family dogs. With their intelligence, and laid back demeanor they make an excellent choice when choosing a dog for your family. Here’s more about this breed?

History: The Labrador Retrievers roots, depending upon which theory you adhere to, either started in England or Newfoundland. Most theories suggest that the origin of the Labrador Retriever dates back to Newfoundland in the 1700s, where they were originally considered a smaller version of the Newfoundland, and might even have been a partial cross of a now extinct St. Johns dog and the larger Newfoundland. By the 1800s, the Labrador began making its way to England and European countries, but compliments for refining the breed as a hunting and retrieving dog go to the English breeders. They are known for being black in color originally, with the first yellow and chocolate colored Lab’s being recorded around the end of the 19th century.

To this day the Labrador Retriever was and still is used for bird hunting and retrieval of birds in the water. Even though today the Retriever is a natural when used for bird hunting, they were in the past, excellent at retrieving fish too, and still show their love for a good swim. Said to have originated in Newfoundland, there are those who speculate that the Labrador name comes from the Canadian Province of Labrador. Popular among breeders in Canada around the 1800s, the Labrador Retriever only made it’s way to America in the early 1900s, where it was finally registered with the American Kennel Club in1917.

Description: Thriving in all types of weather, the Labrador Retriever has a thick, resistant to water coat, that comes in the various flavors of yellow, black or chocolate brown. Female Labrador Retrievers weigh in at around 55-75 pounds, while the larger male tips the scale at between 65-80 pounds. the height of the Labrador can range from 21-24 inches tall. Some of the beautiful features that this dog possesses include their muscular hind legs combined with an otter like tail, most often recognized while in their stance. They are also known for their proud, powerful looking head.

Life Span: 10-13 years

Common Ailments: May be prone to Hip and Elbow Dysphasia which might cause problems with mobility and arthritis in it’s later years. otherwise, this is a hardy dog breed. Another possible ailment known to this breed is called Retinal Atrophy which is a progressive disease that results in reduction or complete loss of vision.

Suitability with Children: Yes, a very even tempered breed as well as gentle natured.

Suitability with Other Pets: Yes

Living Conditions: Labrador Retrievers do best in a home with a large yard or with land. They are easily adaptable though, and would also do well in an apartment or with a small yard if received plenty of exercise on a daily basis.

Training: This breed is easily trainable as a puppy. Combining their intelligence with their easy trainability makes them one of the most powerful combinations as a superior working dog and excellent sporting dog, as well as a wonderful family pet. Remember that Labradors need consistency and reinforcement from the time they are puppies and they will grow into a strong and gentle family pet.

Exercise Required: High

Expense to maintain: Low

Breed Temperament: Being definitely a favored breed in America, just about every puppy in the pound will state they have some Labrador in their blood. If not, many owners will make the claim that they do because of their gentle nature despite their size, as well as their extreme intelligence and ease at training. There is no doubt about it, the Labradors loyalty, agreeable temperament and affectionate nature are what causes this to be one of the most popular dog breeds around.

Keep in mind that Labradors find their greatest happiness when they are outdoors sporting or exercising on a regular basis. While Labrador Retrievers can adapt to almost any living environment, owners will find they are most content when they are regularly exercised. If not regularly exercised, especially as a puppy, owners could find that they will turn towards destructive habits, like chewing furniture. Also, Labs that are not regularly exercised show a tendency to put on weight, as they sure love to eat.

All things considered, Labrador Retrievers will make a wonderful family pet with a little extra TLC, and along with the tender loving care, don’t forget the extra running, fetching or swimming!

When Richard Livitski isn’t busy digging up information on Labrador Retrievers, he’s working on his dog names website http://www.dog-names-and-more.com where dog names as well as other helpful dog related topics can be found.

Working dogs are canines that are trained to perform special tasks, which cannot be done by ordinary breeds. One of the most common breeds of working dogs is the German Shepherd, otherwise known as the Alsatian. The working German Shepherd is often employed as a guard dog, search dog, rescue dog, police dog, or a military dog. These are usually the areas of specialization for this breed since the German Shepherd is trained to protect. Alsatians are generally obedient, and apt to please. If you want to train working dogs, opt for German Shepherds because they are easier to train.

The human-dog correlation forms an essential part of the society. Legends and tradition have surrounded a part of the character and teaching guidance for the dog. With the introduction of science and human psychology, many scientists have made efforts to characterize and identify the activities of the dogs and the methods involved in training them. Difficulties in the relationship of dog and human aroused during the middle of the 20th century. But, in the 21st century, researches have proved that, hardships were removed depending on the selection of breeds of dogs appropriate to human needs. This small but momentous march may help in maintaining a good relationship with the owners of the dog and the public. There are several breeds of dogs available. A family can select a dog on the available breeds depending on their security requirements.
This article deals with the German shepherd dog also called as Alsatian Shepherd. This breed of dogs shows self-assurance, friendliness and devotion to the owners than other breed of dogs. The recognition of German Shepherds still holds good as they have an unjustified status as aggressive Shepherds, because of their similarity to their far-away predator, the wolf. These dogs become hard to be handled if meddled harshly. They act as watch dogs for houses and also are used for protection purposes because of their courage, heroism, stubbornness, power and vigor. German Shepherds are generally not used in the security services like in army and police. But they are used at homes, since they show loyalty, love and affection to their owners.
German Shepherds are medium sized dogs and normally weighs about 40 kgs. Ears of these dogs remain wilted and droopy and become hard after they grow. Shepherds have sparkling eyes with a package of dense fur and have a proportionate structure towards their adulthood. These dogs develop some problems around the waist called dysphasia due to over jumping and shaking of the body and this leads to joint problems. Skin problems are common in Shepherds and everyday grooming is a must for these dogs. Perfect good food is essential to avoid skin problems.
These dogs eat normally 800gms of meal per day. They normally prefer fresh foods like meat and vegetables, other than dried dog foodstuffs. Shepherds normally prefer long walks and like straying outside the home. These dogs usually sleep outside the door of the house and provide safety and security. In short, these dogs are called as pet dogs. Socialism and instillation of good habits can be made possible by providing proper training to these dogs. It is more important to keep them psychologically and physically engaged.
Scientific researches have proved that by ascertaining a dog’s physical structure and behavioral characters, it becomes possible to decide on the breed of dogs appropriate to specific tasks and environments. More significantly, community may be enhanced with a dog or breed of dog, reducing the occurrence of activities arising from unsuited human-dog interactions. However, further study needs to be done to simplify and recover the functioning and social interactions with dogs.

Chocolate Labradors, while they often do well in shows, are seen more often in families as both the children?s playing companion and the family guard dog. This is important because the good-natured happiness of these dogs makes them ideal for children once they are trained not to jump up on small children and once they have learned not to chew and have been house-trained.

Puppies of all kinds can be dangerous for children simply because puppies are undisciplined and do not yet have an understanding of what is harmful and what is not. This is even more true of chocolate Labrador puppies and other large breed puppies because they grow so rapidly and get big and heavy quite quickly. Even though they quickly look as though they are full grown, they are still puppies for approximately the first year and this means that they have a lot of extra energy and playfulness that could cause a problem if the puppy is not trained properly. A professional training class is often the best recommendation for a chocolate Labrador puppy, as it would be for any large breed dog that is going to grow quickly and still have the puppy energy that is seen early on in the relationship with the owner.

As the chocolate Labrador puppy turns into a full grown dog it will settle down some and the energy of puppyhood will dissipate, but chocolate Labradors are still high energy dogs and will remain so until they reach their senior years. This is something that should be considered very carefully when someone is thinking of getting a chocolate Labrador because even large breed dogs often live 10 to 12 years or more, and the energy level will remain high in these dogs for the first 7 to 8 years at least, barring any major medical problems or other issues that the chocolate Labrador could possibly develop. This is a long time for someone to work with and live with a high energy animal, and even though many people will not mind this at all, it is necessary to consider this when thinking about whether to get a chocolate Labrador.

Labrador puppies are very smart puppies. They are moody and training a Labrador puppy needs your physical and mental patience. During training a Labrador puppy, if your Labrador puppy does not follow you. You should not beat Labrador puppy in this situation and just look at the matter and try to find the reason that why your Labrador is not learning.
Labrador puppy does not like to learn all the time. Try to teach your Labrador puppy in the way which it likes instead of teaching it in your style as it does not like it and will never learn from you. You should always prefer Labrador puppy’s choice and likeness during training a Labrador puppy. In the beginning of training a Labrador puppy, first teach those things which you consider that your Labrador puppy likes and after that, be frank with your Labrador puppy.
Try to teach your Labrador puppy with different symbols. Whenever you see it, forward a smile to it and call it with two fingers of your hand and repeat it several times in front of it. At last, you will succeed in trying to teach it that when you’ll raise two fingers, it will have to come towards you. Try to teach it that when it feels hungry, it should stand near the door of kitchen. Try to teach your Labrador puppy about all other things which you want to teach it during training a Labrador puppy by selecting such numerous symbols.
If you feel that your Labrador puppy likes to spread filth here and there. Breathe deeply and close your nose when it does so and show it that there is some unpleasant smell in the surrounding area and change the place of your Labrador puppy. In this way, it will come to know that when it spreads filth in its surroundings, smell spreads, and it will stop this habit. If you feel that Labrador puppy does not give any sort of response to your specific symbols, change them and choose some different symbols which you feel that your Labrador puppy will like.
Give toys to your Labrador puppy for playing and play with it daily when it is in a pleasant mood, and it will help you to be its friend. Try to buy only such toys which you consider that your Labrador puppy will like. Be careful about buying toys for your Labrador puppy and never buy such toys which have sharp corners because your Labrador puppy may injure during playing with such toys, and you will never like to injure the Labrador puppy during training a Labrador puppy.
