Try one or all of these methods:
1) When he jumps, you fold your arms, look up, and turn your back on the dog. If he continues or goes after another body part then walk into a room he can’t follow you in to. This teaches him that jumping and biting means you go away.
2) Spritz him with some water. Have a small water sprayer by the door when you come in. Spritz him when he jumps.
3) Make a loud noise (pennies in a can) when he jumps.
4) When you come in to a room, the house, or what have you the dog HAS to have all four feet on the floor for pets or treats or playing. No exception. If he jumps, you stop what your doing with him.
5) He has to sit for greetings and has to have all four feet on the floor when sniffing around people. If he jumps, nips, etc then pull him into another room until he calms down.
6) Sometimes more exercise will tire him out. Try walking him twice a day.
7) Try not to rile him up. Don’t yell or speak loudly – stay soft and calm. When you play, a little bit of excitement is okay and expected, but if it gets too rough STOP playing and walk away.
He needs to learn that playing is okay, but nipping and loud barking is NOT. My dog, currently a littler over a year, is re-visiting that stage. We have to constantly leave her alone or spritz her – she’s worse in the sense she barks at us when we talk to each other or on the phone lol.
If all else fails, enroll in an obedience course. A trainer will help you with any problems, you’ll learn nifty stuff, and your pup gets to socialize.

When he starts jumping up and nipping, you need to immediately block him from doing so and firmly but calmly tell him “No”. If he continues, stand tall and move toward him, forcing him to either go backward, turn around and walk away, or sit. You need to make him submit to you. Once he has stopped, it is important to reward him. Food works best, but merely petting him and saying “Good boy” will work as well.

You have to be firm and not allow it. It is hard and they keep doing it, but don’t get discouraged and don’t hit him. You are going to end up hit him a hundred times a day for biting and you cant do that. so, you have to try different things and see what works with him. A firm “No” will usually not make much of an impression, so try no and then give him a toy. Or no and then a treat when he stops. Some dogs do better with punishment and some dogs do better when you reward good behavior. Just don’t let it go because it’s a lot less funny when your puppy weighs 50 pounds.

although a complete puppie, nipping is NOT acceptable at all.
think how “mother dog” teaches their pups good behavior.
the incoming answers about “firm no, and high pitched ouches” make problem worse.
